McMahon got his ass handed to him tonight at city council.
Don Spatz took a pass and sent some old coot who was a dead ringer for Col. Sanders, right down to the cheap tweed jacket and comical white facial hair… so the report in the Eagle tomorrow should be interesting.
Barry Miller, the husband of popular former Mayor Karen Miller landed the coup de grau in the on going Adam Merkuji fiasco. He called out Churchill, made it clear the Administrations actions are dishonorable. It’s time to respect representative democracy and enforce the law or ask the citizens to amend the Charter.

Recently Reading City Council, because of new budget issues ,have been discussing the possibility of selling their municipal water company. A while ago PA American Water Company, which supplies my very expensive water, made overtures to Reading Council. On Monday we are planning to attend the Reading City Council meeting to explain to them why privatization of utilities is a very bad idea - please try to join us.

Wow, I just watched the replay of Monday’s Council meeting and just loved Stefan’s lambasting of the Mayor and his Administration over poverty. I appreciate his insight, stating “…charity and welfare do nothing to aleviate poverty, they merely mitigate the outrage associated with poverty so the poor don’t riot for food the way they used to throughout America’s history. All good things in life start with a job. If one does not earn it, they will never appreciate it. The only way we will aleviate poverty is to create opportunities for all to work for wages that pay the bills.”
Yeah, I paraphrased a bit, but I agree. The War on Poverty started in 1967 when Reading PA was a rich city. Look at what this War on Poverty has done for Reading!
As to Councilman Waltman, fucking idiot, no reasonable person expects you or Council to SOLVE poverty, but we damn sure expect you to take responsibilty and speak out against the failure of state and federal officials who are failing us. You must speak out PUBLICLY as well as privately too.
