Its headlines like this that make you say “Only in
Pennsylvania”. Like many people that read articles about this stuff they think to themselves about their own childhood. As I did the same thing looking back onto my childhood I remembered a conversation I had with the late Barry Melcher who was my teacher at Reading-Muhlenberg Vo-Tech from 1993 until I graduated in 1996. I can remember the conversation plain as day. It was the fall of 1995 and I was starting my senior year, and us Muhlenberg guys would get there about 45 minutes before
Reading did, and we would have talks about sports, politics, I.T. and so on. Now keep in mind that the internet was just beginning to come out of its shell at the time, and the mainstream topic about the internet was chat rooms and porn, and one thing that stood out was a story of some nude pictures of Cindy Crawford that leaked out there and a rumored award was out there for information leading to the sources of these pictures. So Mr. Melcher jokes with me and asks me if I’m going to spend all weekend checking it out, and wondering how many other kids would be attempting this, and I responded as saying, “It is issues like this that will make the internet into the new Ritalin. The moment these deadbeat parents see how a kid can glue themselves in front of a computer and not bother them they will pay $40.00 a month for the internet rather then $140.00 a month on pills, and you watch how many more loons infest cyber space.” I later used this line in a speech I made years later to encourage people that sought the same profession as me to prepare to take an ethical stand to fight the inevitable cesspool that would later evolve. The term “new Ritalin” was so bold that Mr. Melcher coined the term the next few years to students until he suddenly passed away. Now thinking about this today you have to wonder if there is some truth to this. We had the David Ludwig/Kara Borden issue in
Lititz,
PA where David Ludwig killed Kara’s parents which was staged on myspace and xanga. Another issue was Amber Miller of West Reading, PA who staged sniper attempts on myspace toward school kids on a bus, and was convicted for firing a pellet gun at them and to make matters worse she even left a suicide note on her myspace blog. Then we had that Mexican Nazi Sal who is the President of the U.N. Club at
Muhlenberg
High School displaying Swastikas, and pictures of himself with a handgun and live ammo similar to that nut case who shot up Virginia Tech. Now we have this Finnish kid who was consulting a PA teen on the web, and plotting an attack against a
Philadelphia
School.The problem is simply that parents are too damn lazy to be parents anymore. They would rather rely on a drug, a computer or whatever else just so they can watch American Idol, or G(ay)ray’s anatomy, or worse yet watching Terri Hatcher’s botox fug face in Desperate Housewives. I’m going to tell it like it is and if it offends you then you must be guilty of this as well. I got 3 kids. Two boys and a girl. When my wife wanted to have a baby, we both knew that after our oldest was born we would have to put him first, and work around any problems that come along the way. One example being that my kids are taking a nap as I’m typing this, and if they wake up, or my daughter cries my life goes on pause to take care of them and I don’t continue until they are ok. The problem is we have too many mothers out there that use their vagina’s as penis fly traps, and we got too many guys out there that think their penises are jackhammers, and pop out a few no problem, they can watch TV, surf the web, while they have sex, watch American Idol, cook meth in their basement, and go to the local swingers club. With Britney Spears leading the way that is what parenting has become in the mainstream, and until these pieces of shit get their heads out of their ass, and face reality, then we are in for more school shootings, and other terrorist type activities from these brats in the years to come.Source:
