December 7, 2006 by Matt Heckman.
Well folks, it seems that Muhlenberg Township could give a rats ass about property rights yet again. My dear uncle Harry A. Heckman Jr. and my cousin John A. Heckman Sr. have now found a new dump site for their friends at The Boosters Club on Frush Valley Road, and their Hispanic home boys in 9th St. by the Ziz Zag Bar since losing his property on Herb Road. It’s my mother’s back alley. Over the past month they have been dumping abandon vehicles such as pictured below, dumping used tires from Dulins Tire Service on Centre Ave (which is owned by members of my family), dumping used motor oil, and other various trash that I have had to clean up.
I can only say that thank God we are not on well water anymore, or this would cause a serious health risk. Just today by the grassy areas of the alley I had to wash my shoes from oil waste. So far my mother has contacted The Muhlenberg Police, and to their credit they have agreed to patrol the alley way in an attempt to catch them in the act, but so far have not been successful despite John Heckman and company verbally admitting it on several occasions, but sadly you can’t convict on hearsay which my family knows darn well and laughing all way to the bank while my mother’s property continues to get destroyed. Also Muhlenberg Township wants nothing to do with it due to the costs by considering the alley way “private”. I’m willing to bet The Township Commissioners don’t have the balls to include this in a township meeting like my mother has attempted to do in the past month. If the alley way was rezoned, this would not be happening.
All this because my family is attempting to force my mother into selling to my cousin Patrick Heckman for $80K when the value of the property is currently over $125K. In the minds of my family, they believe that my mother has no right to her property, because it was my grandparents. Here is the thing however. My mother has a legal deed to the property that was upheld after an attempt by my aunts and uncles to challenge it. My Grandfather left his half of the property to her in his will which was perfectly legal after his death in 1984. In 1994 my Grandmother sold her half to my mother. All perfectly legal. This Illegal dumping by my family members is just another attempt to terrorize my mother into selling her property on their terms.
You have to really think about the dangerous path Muhlenberg Township is taking here folks. They are completely ignoring The Constitution Of The United States in such a way that it does not matter if you own the property, but if you have a blood line that claims seniority rights toward it, it’s ok for them to do whatever they want, such as Township Engineer Doug Didyoung took with taking the word of my aunts and uncles letters to him, and since they are my mother’s older siblings their word trumps hers. Muhlenberg Township is taking a more radical approach then New London, CT, and that ruling with The United States Supreme Court. When you put these two standards together, we are in peril as a country. If some developer wants to go to a township to claim people’s homes under the grounds of tax revenue, not only can the township now take your home under New London, but with this new seniority bloodline standard Muhlenberg Township has taken, they can do whatever they want to your property in an attempt to lower its value and make even more revenue by buying it dirt cheap. This is scary beyond belief folks.
